Kamping

I'm reeeeally trying to get back into blogging just for the sake of preserving our memories. The other day I was looking at some old blog posts and it made me so happy! I don't really journal anymore, so I'll do this instead. Here we go. . .

A few weeks ago we took Remington on his first camping trip! He loved it. I was a little worried he wouldn't settle down and sleep in the tent with us, but he did great. We went with our friends Jordan and Sarah, made lots of good food, and had a great time. American Fork Canyon is only 20 minutes from our house and it was a beautiful, shady spot. Hopefully we can go again this year!

Oh . . . Hey

Well between Instagram and our busy lives we haven't seen a need or the time to do any blogging for months! I am ashamed of  this because I recently realized how much I enjoy looking at old posts for reminders of what our lives used to be like. We've had a blog since we got married and we can't stop now! Also for our loved ones who don't waste time on Instagram, this is for you.

I'm going to attempt to give a very quick run-down of the last 3 months.

January

We rang in our first new year at our house. It wasn't anything fancy (preeeety sure we ate 5 guys for dinner and watched Pitch Perfect) but it was just what we wanted. Insert sappy pic of us kissing at midnight:

A couple of weeks after that I got really sick. Let me tell you - I do not get sick. At least not like this. I was out of it for over a week. I missed 3 days of work! Apparently I got that nasty flu and then it turned into a sinus infection and then I became really dehydrated, went to instacare, passed out in the office, etc. Not a fun experience but a life experience nonetheless.

Around the same time Rodney went on a business trip to Florida. He was gone a week, worked really hard, and had some fun while he was at it. I am so proud of him.

AND in January Remington turned 1! We really love him.

February

Thanks to Rodney's savvy Groupon skills we were able to go boarding at the Canyons! I had never been and I was SO impressed. I think it ruined me for other resorts! We had such a good day.

Over President's Day Weekend we were able to take a little trip to St. George. The sunshine and 60 degree weather was a welcome change from the endless amounts of snow we had this winter!

We ate, shopped, slept in, ate some more, and even got to go rappelling with uncle Rod and his family!

March

March is always a good month for me! Not just because it's my birthday month but because it's just a fun time of year. It's FINALLY getting warmer!

We had a party with Rodney's family that was lots of fun! (these kids make everything better)

I've really been loving my new blender!

Over my birthday weekend Rod took me to Tucanos

Made me breakfast in bed

Took me to the Dinosar Museum

And treated me like a princess. I'm so lucky to have him!

Sunday was my actual birthday. We went to church and then had another fun party at my parent's! It was a good week!

Holidayz

It's unreal how fast the holidays flew by this year. Tanya had a full 2 week Christmas Break, and I took work off from the 21st to the 2nd. This made for the ultimate staycation! Besides the usual holiday stuff, we watched a LOT of movies, spent time with family, re-watched season 3 of Community, re-watched Season 1 of Happy Endings, went sledding, rode on a sleigh to see the lights at Thanksgiving Point, went shopping and out to eat, played with Remy, and slept in every morning (the highlight for sure).

Remy loved hardly having to spend any time in his crate and playing with lots of humans. He also ate like a king.

Tanya and her mom kept their tradition alive of seeing The Nutcracker.

We loved that it was a white Christmas. It seemed like it snowed almost every day, which made our view extra nice.

The Rasmussen Family Lion House dinner and white elephants were something special.

We went to church to remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Santa's homeliest elf spied on us the whole month and told him that we were good.

Because we were good, Santa brought us lots of shoes. He also brought us a Kindle Fire, clothes, a blanket, and lots of tools for our house!

We used our new drill to make these shelves.

We got to see our darls niece and 3 nephews. The best news of all is that Ender and Chloe are moving from New Jersey to Utah! We no longer have to be long distant Aunt and Uncle to these two goons.

Tanya got a belgian waffle maker and we definitely put it to good use.

We finally made it to Trader Joe's and stocked up.

We went sledding and even took Remy on a few runs. He loved it! He is always happy when he gets to be outside and around people.

I won a GoPro at work a couple of months back, and we finally used it to take videos while we were sledding.

It's true what they say:

2012 has been good to us. We adopted Remy, moved into our house, put in our yard, Tanya enjoyed her first summer off as a Teacher, we went to Portland and the Oregon Coast with friends, went to the Mayan Riviera, made some new friends, and had a lot of laughs. 2013 is going to be even BETTER!
