Classy Christmas

Last night we had a "Classy" Christmas party with some friends in our ward. Katie and I hosted once again and it turned out really great. Here are some of the highlights:

Rod was our bartender and made the most amazing Italian sodas

Tanksgiving

Thanksgiving Weekend was 4 days of Holiday bliss. Wednesday was a date night with dinner and shopping. The Factory Stores at Traverse Mountain are so amazing! It's so great finally have great shopping close to our house.

Thanksgiving morning we woke up and went for a run by Thanksgiving Point. We ran through part of the Thanksgiving Point Half Marathon and there were tons of signs that had "I'm Thankful For . . . . " written on them. It made our run that much better. It was also great to work off some cals before the feast!

After eating there was immediate napping followed by games and more eating.

The next day we decorated for Christmas! It's so fun to have a house and our own decorations. Christmasland is alive at our house!

Rod even put up a few lights outside.

Rod's been really busy with school lately so luckily I have friends to keep me company. Katie and I did a crafty craft this week while watching Revenge. I think they turned out pretty cute.

I also got to go see a live nativity in Alpine with our Relief Society. It was really beautiful. I love having so many fun girls to hang out with in the ward!

Remy told us that he loves Christmas. Christmas is his favorite.

And along with the kickoff to the Holiday Season, this week we are celebrating our 4 year anniversary. On Saturday we went out to dinner at Rino's a really quaint Italian Restaurant ran by Rino himself! The food was fantastic. After that we went to City Creek, looked at Temple Square, and of course finished the night with apple mango Martinelli's and the 7th season of How I Met Your Mother! (Newly released on Netflix!)

Can't wait for the rest of the season!

Playing Catch-Up

We've been so busy that blogging just gets pushed to the bottom of the list. We can't complain because we're busy doing things that we love (for the most part), and life is pretty good right now.

In November, my (Rodney) work schedule got crazy; we had our international convention that we had been planning for months, and then two weeks later we launched our new website (in 5 languages). There were a lot of long nights, but we're really happy with how things turned out. I stayed at a hotel in Salt Lake and it was the first time that Tanya and I have spent a night apart since we got married almost 4 years ago! She got to come up and see some of it and stay in my hotel room with me the last night, which was nice. Here's a highlight video from the convention.

Tanya and her friend Katie threw a couple's Halloween Party at our house. It was a lot of fun and all of the costumes were top notch!

Fall was Fall - you know the drill

My dad and I bought (built) a town home about a mile from our house at Thanksgiving Point. We have been wanting to do this for a long time (we almost did it in Provo when I was at BYU, and then we almost did it in Hawaii when we were living there), but it was finally too good to pass up. I will be the landlord and I can already tell that I have a LOT to learn. I'm happy to say we've already found a nice family that just moved into it.

Recently we won a family photo shoot with Tanya's friend Brooke. It was just a mini-session but the pics turned great. You can find her info here.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

I love fall. I really can't get over it.

Here are a few of the fun things we've been doing lately.

Last weekend we went on a little road trip to St. George for Rodney's marathon. He's been training for months. Between working full time and getting an MBA at night, it was not easy for him to find time for it, but he somehow did. We were both able to get work off on Friday so we headed down Thursday night. The next morning we slept in, played some tennis, and picked up his race packet.

The rest of the day was filled with shopping, eating, more shopping, and being together. He was sure to carbo load his brains out the night before. Pretty much the perfect day.

On Friday my family, Cheryl, and Marianne came down to watch Rod cross the finish line. We (including Rodney) anticipated him crossing the finish line sometime between 4 hours 15 minutes and 4 hours 30 minutes. My Aunt Misty and her family were a little ways down the line from us and at about 3 hours 50 minutes she text me saying he was on his way! We scrambled to get the cameras out to capture his victory. Of course being the entertainer that he is he couldn't just run across the finish line - he had to dance across the finish line. I was trying to switch the camera from picture to video and I missed the whole thing! I was so mad! He officially finished at 3 hours 55 minutes!! An amazing time for his first marathon. We are all so proud of him.

We spent the rest of the time watching Conference and resting. Rod was surprisingly mobile after the race. It was such a great weekend! Hard to come home.

Lately I have been spending my free time putting up decorations and baking fall treats. I love having my own house to decorate and fun neighbors to do things with!

I think I have finally re-mastered my pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. I  made these all the time in Hawaii, but turns out baking in Utah is wayyy different than baking in Hawaii on account of the altitude and humidity changes.

The weather has been amazing

Even Remy and Winslow are feeling festive

And our house is very cozy.

Yesterday my dad took our whole family to Lagoon's Frightmares. We used to go every year when I was little and it brought back so many fun memories. We had a blast.

Swings!

Going into the haunted house. I wish I could un-see the video they make you watch at the beginning. Horrific!

I thought it would be funny to not tell my mom that Wicked goes really fast at the beginning. Not as funny as I had hoped.

Zombies!

Now we just need to figure out what we are going to be for Halloween . . . any great ideas?
