Doggie

We have wanted a dog since the day we got married. Due to the fact that we have moved around and lived in apartments for the last 3 years, that has yet to happen. HOWEVER, in 5 weeks we will be in our house and we can finally have a puppy of our own! We love small dogs like Yorkies, but they are expensive, yappy, and probably a little too small. Morkies (Maltese/Yorkie mix) are really cute and a little bigger than Yorkies. We also love dachshunds, but I don't know very much about them (except that they are adorable and if I had one I would name him pickles!) We recently fell in love with a Bichon Frise (see photo below) they look like little white teddy bears! They are hypoallergenic, they don't shed, good with kids, and not too small. If you know any cute dogs that need a home we are looking to rescue one! I can't wait to be a mommy!

Wish List

I usually put together a wish list for my birthday (at the end of this month!) But this year I have wayyy too much to wish for. Our house should be done the middle of next month and we couldn't be more excited. The following is a very long list of wonderful things I wish I could have for our house. Unfortunately, we will need A LOT of stuff when we move! Blinds, a fridge, microwave, range, washer and dryer, TV, couches, etc. Since the day we got married we knew we were going to live in Hawaii, so we tried not to accumulate too much stuff. It was nice to not have to store furniture while we lived away, however now we have next to nothing to fill our house with! Not even a TV! (Our basement apartment came equipped with a TV and couches). It is fun collecting furniture, but it is a slow process. I just need to be patient. . .

Living room and sitting room. We actually bought the sectional. At least we'll have a couch!

I would love to find an old ladder to use as a shelf, but if not I have seen something similar to this one at Target. That would work too.

Ever since Rod saw these book bookshelves he has wanted to make them. We are currently hunting for cool old books like these ones.

Kitchen - we have the white chairs (thank you KSL), and a table that looks a lot like this one that we got from the D.I. it just needs to be refinished. We want to have a bench on one side, and gray padded chairs at each end.

Like this . . .

And maybe some chairs like this at the bar . . .

We found this buffet at the D.I. too. A 1960's treasure. We really want our house to have a 60's modern theme.

Bedroom - I bought this duvet cover a while ago and I'm still trying decide if I'm going to keep it. I like chevron, and it fits the theme, so I probably will. Hopefully our bedroom furniture that I refinished last summer will look good with it! I like the mix of old and new.

Someday!

Rough

It's been a rough weekend for the two of us. These albums have been on at full volume making me feel a little better.

Luckily . . . we just bought our tickets for Fun. We are going to dance ALL NIGHT.

Ski Day

We have been wanting a ski day for soooo long. The snow hasn't been great this year, but our day was amazing.

Rod decided to ski for the first time since high school (he usually snowboards). He also decided to dress accordingly.

My life is pure entertainment thanks to him.

And we finished the day with donuts and hot chocolate. Perfection.

Progress

Things are really moving along with our house. Thanks to the mild Winter, they've been able to get a lot done and are actually ahead of schedule. Today we did our first official walkthrough with the contractor to make sure everything is in its proper place and all the electrical is right before they start the drywall. Here's what it looks like:

This week they finished the roof

 Front porch

Kitchen

Fireplace

"Master Retreat" - this will be a nursery when needed, and a reading nook otherwise

Master bathroom

Loft - this will be our office

Back of the house - insert hot tub here!

The view from upstairs. This was one of the biggest things we looked for in a house - we didn't want to have any backyard neighbors. That's the Thanksgiving Point golf course across the way.

Because my Dad is an electrical contractor, we brought him along to make sure everything is up to par. He has decided to come tomorrow and help us install surround sound, more cable jacks, and a few other little things that we forgot to add. We're thankful for his help!

They told us that it will be ready to move into sometime in April! Say whaaaa? We are counting down the days, and (only slightly) freaking out. We lay in bed at night fantasizing about what kind of dog we will get the day we move in!

Commercials

I love commercials - not all of them, and never local commercials - but I enjoy watching them. Tanya gets mad because sometimes I stop while fast-forwarding through commercials to watch. Tomorrow is the Superbowl, which means we'll be eating while the game is on and watching intently during the commercials.

Oh, and also . . .

This weekend I saw these commercials for the first time, and I really liked them.

Both of them make me want to blow it all and go on a cruise ASAP.

And this one, with the new Fun. song (their new album comes out later this month!).

It makes me really really ready for Summer.

Sundance

We hadn't been to Sundance for a few years, so when Rod's work friends invited us we decided to make it happen. We went down town early and picked up wait list tickets, ate some food, and then got in line. There were a ton of people there, but we made it in! The film was a documentary called "About Face: The Supermodels Then and Now". Read more about it here. It was really interesting.
